Lexmark Printer Uninstall Problem - Print spooler needs to be reinstalled

I'm using Windows XP Home edition and the computer is a Sony VAIO PCV-RX552.
I was trying to install an HP printer after using a Lexmark X65 for a while.
The HP install was stalled in the midlle with an RPC error and I am no longer able to print.
When I spoke with an HP technician, he told me that I should only have one Dependency (RPC) under Print Spooler Properties and suggested that I contact Lexmark and have them walk me through to remove it from my syste.  Currently I have LexBce Server and RPC as Dependencies.  When I called Lexmark, they said it's a Microsoft issue and that they need to reinstall the Print Spooler.  I'm not sure what to do........
Can someone help?
