If you are talking about the icon that shows network activity...

1. Right-click "My Network Places"
2. Click Properties
3. Right-click your default NIC
4. Click Properties
5. Check the "Show icon in notification area when connected" box

If it is the display icon then do the following:

1. Right-click the Desktop and select "Properties..." from the menu that appears.

2. Click the "Settings" tab.

3. Click the "Advanced..." button.

4. Check the "Show settings icon on task bar" check box.

5. Click Apply.

6. Click OK.

7. Click OK.

It will now be shown in your systemtray

Yes I am talking about the display icon .. and per your instructions, there is no such options in Xp ""Show settings icon on task bar" check box."

When I goto Advanced I have General, Adapter, Monitor, Troubleshoot and Color Management Tabs. I dont see "Show settings icon on task bar" check box. .

Sometimes you do not need to go as far as the "advanced" button it may be on your settings tab. This may not be available for all graphics cards either. If none of the options are available in your Display Properties box, you can download a freeware tool that does the same thing; avalable here: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_quickres.htm

Yes SheharyaarSaahil is right; it seems to be a specific feature for ATI cards not windows, but Quickres works just add it to your startup menu if you need it all the time.
