My neighbor has WIN XP home on his HP Laptop. He always asks me to do some work for him. I do not mind as he s a Senior Citizen who cannot get out of his house much.
He has a C drive and the PC is quite new and has plenty of space.
I have Part Magic.
*********Will Part Magic allow me to add a D drive and format it as FAT32 (to make it easier to restore Ghost images)?
***********What should the process be that I use (the steps)?
I will of course first backup his machine to an external USB drive using Ghost (on his machine)
********Also not sure how to do a restore to a machine that is NTFS....is there a boot CD I can create and use since his machine is NTFS?

I don't know whether you plan to install Partition Magic on his machine, or run it from the CD. Whichever it is, after you start it, the exact steps will be similar to this (it will be somewhat different based upon whether you run from the program on hard disk or on your CD):
1.select his C: partition, then click Operations -> Resize/Move
2. fill in the amount of space for New Size, and Free Space After (the new D: partition will be following the C: partition) and click OK
3. The above operations will resize the C: partition smaller and leave unallocated space following it. Click the Unallocated space and Click Operations -> Create. From the drop down list for "Create as" choose Logical Partition (unless you will want to install another Operating System there, in which case you would choose Primary Partition.)
4. from the Partition Type drop down list, choose FAT32. Fill in a volume Label if you want, make sure Position has the dot next to Beginning of unallocated space. Click OK.
5. Now click Operations -> View Operations Pending, make sure everything looks OK, then click the Apply button. Partition Magic will boot into a psuedo-DOS mode to perform the operations.
The above wording may not be exactly the same as what you see; I am looking at my Partition Magic version 6 manual to write this. (My version of Partition Magic 8 did not come with a manual.) You should be using Partition Magic version 8 in order for it to work in Windows XP.
