Does it disappear while opening,,,, if YES then its probabaly due to virus !!!!

if its not a Virus problem, and all scans comes as clean, then try a SFC scan.....

Goto START>RUN and type  sfc /scannow
u will need ur WinXP CD in order to fix the corrupted windows system files, if found by scan.

and for avi problem, just try uninstalling and then reinstalling Divx and VidX codecs !!!!

DivX Codecs:

Xvid Codecs:

as i said,,,, ur system SHUD be having many more issues =|

u have to reinstall system restore, but it will be of no use, coz it will delete all current restore poitns and u will be not able tor restore it back to a previous state !!!!

and u didn't tell me how all this started,,, means a hardware crash or a virus attack ??
Why dont u just consider a Repair, which can restore all default files and registries,,,, and can solve all of these troubles :-?

by: SheharyaarSaahilPosted on 2004-08-25 at 16:28:50ID: 11898303

>> i was watching a .avi movie while overlocked

that can be three reason of this thing,,,,

the avi movie was corrupted a lot and it caused too much trouble for ur system that it got overlocked
ur video card is failing day by day and u may be need a new one !!!
DirectX got corrrupted on ur system and needed to be repaired or reinstalled

now as im unfamiliar to ur system... u have to guess the right one from above options :-?
Btw do u remember what was the message on that BSOD... most of the times BSOD are due to faulty hardware or bad drivers !!!!
