I have disabled that as I use ZAPro. I have the same SP on my home PC so will see if that does the same.

I use my laptop (HP Compaq nx9005) to watch DVDs and since upgrading to SP2 I am getting them freeze and lockup while watching. I have tried 3 different players including Windows Media Player and get the same. I have also tried various DVDs and get the same. I am sure this must relate to SP2 as it was fine with SP1. I did find an article about IDE Channel settings sometimes being change from DMA Mode to PIO Mode, mine was PIO Mode but after removing and restarting the PC it redetected the channel and set it up as DMA Mode correctly, however, this did not stop the problem.
Any ideas

If u will fail to find any solution to ur problem, then just go and uninstall SP2 and wait until MS releases a BUGS free SP2 in near four or five months =\
First try to uninstall it using the method given here:
XP SP2: How to Remove or Uninstall Service Pack 2

If above fails then try the Recovery Console method as described below:

!! Good Luck !!
>> Could this have been down to a codec?
not sure..... is it working only in WinDVD now, or in all other players also ??
if other players still have problem, then it cannot be a cidec problem.....
but if they are playing fine now, then it cud be a codec problem, which is solved by installing WinDVD !!
Otherwise, we will have to say that its only WinDVD that is working with SP2 and all other players are still having problems =\

Maybe this has something to do with the fact that the firewall of Microsoft automatically gets enabled. Maybe you need to change the settings of the firewall.
