Browse All TopicsI have a clients computer that is infected with spyware. I have done all the normal fixes; including safe mode delete, registry entries delete, run hijack this and fixed, run adaware and removed. added a group policy to the machine to not run svcxml.exe but all have failed.
The registry key comes straight back into hklm/software/ms/windows/c
anyone have any clues?

I can't tell you where it came from, but I would suggest you download and install Spyware Search and Destroy (you can search for it at download.com). Install it, making sure you check the box during the installation to install and run TeaTimer. With Tea Timer running, any attempt to modify the registry and add that line again will be detected, and you can determine where it came from.

no it was under c:\windows\system\ .... deleted the file, and due to the software restriction in the local group policy it has not respawned....
Strange that there was no info on this file, would like to know where it came from as it stopped access to citrix system. So I am sure that other people will want to know in the future.
To add local group policy :> start > run > mmc
:> then file add remove snap in > click add > select local computer policy. > ok > ok
then under user configuration > system >
enable "don't run specified windows applications" type the svcxml.exe filename
then restart you computer.
you will then be able to delete the file in normal operation ( there will be a popup when you start that says adminisrative restrictions have stopped a file from opening)
then when you have deleted the files you restart again and no popup will occur.
and your system should be clean.
