xp service packs will not run
hi i am trying to sort out a pc with xp home service pack 1 installed.
the pc is working perfectly well but.
1 unable to access secure websites
2 will not download windows updates error 0x8DDD004
also says activex controls not running
3 tried to run xp sp2 from cd - got setup error unable to find file.
i have searched the net and tried changing my security settings, making sure crypographic service is running but to no avail.
I am now at a loss

Check your time and time zone settings. (probably not the problem) but I thought I'd throw that in real quick.
Along with clean out spyware/adware crap.
Hijack This: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html
Spybot: http://www.spychecker.com/download/download_spybot.html
CwShredder: http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/CWShredder.zip
Adaware: http://www.spychecker.com/download/download_adaware.html
HijackThis is a lil more advance than the others so if your not good with computers and fixing them don't use it unless you only post the log here and do what it says:
http://hijackthis.de/index.php?langselect=english
Otherwise skip HiJackthis and use Spybot and Adaware. They both miss some things that the other picks up on.
