Browse All TopicsI turned my computer on the other night, it went to the following:
A blue screen came stating, "A problem has occurred and windows will be shuting down to prevent damage to you computer. Problem file PARTMGR.sys
Page_fault_in_nonpage_area
If did say at the bottom: PARTMGR.sys - Add F7AB84AB base at F7AB6000.
I then disconnected and reconnected that hard drive and tried to boot from the CD rom - Windows XP Pro setup to attempt to repair windows and I got the same blue screen. I am not worried about the data so I would assume a quick format is in store for this drive. My question is why is this happening? After a few times I know get the same blue screen with the error message "Unmountable Boot Drive". The MAXTOR hard drive has 2 partitions. 40GB for Drive C: (boot) and 40 GB for backups of drive C:. Please help me Now this has been happening for some time and I am wondering if it has something to do with the boot sectors? If that is the case then is there a way to repair the boot sectors? Can I assume that all data from both partitions would be OK and only the boot sectors are damaged. IF I can repair the boot sectors then how do I prevent this error from happening again. This type of error (Unmountable boot drive) seems to happen regularily on my Maxtor drives (I have 8 between all my computers and many of them have had to be reformated to fix the problem.
