There was an problem with the PC I was trying to connection to. After that problem was fixed, I was able to connect.

Browse All TopicsI am running XP Pro, and I have been using remote desktop for a couple of months to access my work PC from home. I also connect to my personal work PC from other PC's at work. Occasionally I have a connection problem, which is fixed by rebooting my personal work PC. On Monday I was unable to connect to my personal work PC from another PC at work. Rebooting my PC did not fix the problem. I am able to access my work PC from home by using netmeeting, but that is not as good as remote desktop. I had been using remote desktop on Sunday with no problem. When I got to work on Monday I restarted my work PC, to apply any network distributed updates. After that I couldn't connect. A coworker had no problem with remote desktop, and I could connect with remote desk top from my work PC to another PC at work. I had out technical support people look at the problem by they haven't found a solution. Any suggestions?

1. check to make sure terminal service is started
2. make sure the check box to allow RDC is checked
3. go to a prompt and type
netstat -an
make sure RDC is listening on port 3389
4. check the firewall, make sure it's either disabled or configured to allow port 3389
from the prompt type
netsh firewall set portopening TCP 3389 ENABLE
