Hello.
I installed Windows XP and all the required software on the computer. Now I am trying to add a printer. When I go to Start->Printers and Faxes and click 'Add Printer' nothing happens. No window pops up. When I click 'Send a Fax' its window pops up. I tried loggin in as a local administrator instead of loggin on to my network domain but still the same thing - nothing pops up. I really don't want to install whole OS and all the software again. I have Norton antivirus and Microsoft antispyware running. Thank you for looking into my problem.

That command does the work. It poped up the window and I was able to add the printer. Though I can not see the added printer in Printers and Faxes, I am able to print any document using File->Print, at that time I am able to see the printer in Print dialog box and also in 'Printers and Faxes' as soon as the printing job finishes, the printer disappears from 'Printers and Faxes'. Thanks for the help but I am still wondering as I can print but can not see the printer in 'Printers and Faxes' and still 'Add Printer' does not pop up any window. Thanks.
I opened the printers and faxes and there wasn't any printer I could see as I said but I can print any document from File->print. Now after typing 'control printers' it opend the 'printers and faxes' and I could see the printer. Now 'Add printer' pops up the window too. I have no idea what has changed. Thanks to both of you for the help. I would split the points between you.

Have you tried the System File Checker? Then try this go to Start->Run and type
sfc /purgecache
sfc /scannow
that will check for corrupted system files. Have your XP installation CD handy.
