Windows XP error IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, nothing works!

So I am having major issues with my computer, an AMD Xp 1800+ Ive had for about 4 years.

It all began with me coming home weekend from being away from my computer..it was ridden w/ virus' and spyware.
I did what I could to try to remove everything...but I know I missed one or two things....

I then bought a new DVD burner about a week later, and installed it as a secondary Master.

About a week later, I tried to remove those one or two virus things I hadnt got rid of...
To do this I tried to boot into SAFEMODE with F8, but it would always reboot..

Then, I know this is stupid, i went into windows and did

msconfig->boot.ini->/SAFEBOOT

At this point as you can guess, whether I boot into safemode or regular, it would reboot.

I turned off the comp, and a day later I got this upon start up which jumped into safemode..

Safe Mode:      after loading drivers...
                IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
                STOP: 0x0000000A (0xF9F4F354 , 0x000000FF, 0x00000001, 0x8050FD7F)

I tried loading into all possible safemode options (see below and notice that debugging mode gives a different error)

To try to fix this, I rebooted with the CD and repaired my system.  It looked liked it work, but
I got the same messages.

CD Boot:        Inspecting Computer....
To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER...
                f8-agree to L.A....
To repair the selected Windows XP installation, press R...

Upon reboot...after the loading screen with the green bar.

                IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
                STOP: 0x0000000A (0xF9F4F354 , 0x000000FF, 0x00000001, 0x8050FD7F)

ADDITIONAL OBSERVATION: I JUST NOTICED

Upon power on, my computer always says

    AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1800+
    Checking NVRAM...
    262144KB

and it appears to pass.  However upon a reset, it says

    AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1800+
    Checking NVRAM....No NVRAM
    262144KB

Thanks for the advice.  However, I decided it'd be easier for me to simply copy the sutff in my hardrive to another computer.  Format it, and then copy everything back.  I did this and I'm back up to speed.  thank you though!
