Question

Can't uninstall typing program

Asked by: geraldo67

I recently installed a typing program called "Mavis Beacon" but, it doesnt work, so now I'd like to get rid of it. The problem is every time I go to "Add Remove Programs" I get the following message

Can't Run 16-bit Windows Program

Cannot find file C:\PROGRAM~1\Mindscape\Mavis Beacon 5\Uninstall.exe (or one of its components). Check to ensure the path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are available. Help.

Try reinstalling program.
Could be a bad install and reason why its not working.
It should also reload the uninstaller.

Hi centerv,

don't forget to have your system up with an updated antivirus.reinstall than try to uninstall as centerv said but if failed than simply remove the whole directory from program files\mindscape than goto control panel add remove click on remove/change or uninstall, it will give you error and ask you if you want to delete that program from the list click yes and it's uninstalled(some registry settings or other ini files saved somewhere else mindscape folder will remains on your pc which may slow down your pc so the better option would be reinstalling than trying to uninstall but if it fails you can give a try to manual uninstall)

Good Luck

Good advice from above. The first portion that loads in most programs is the Uninstall feature. Centerv may be right in that reloading the Uninstaller may allow you to remove the program. The second entry works as well. David

Here is how to remove it from the registry and the add remove programs listing :

http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/110/

However I would do as suggested above with regards to doing a reinstall and uninstalling it:)

Also maybe use a 3rd party un installer like :

http://www.ashampoo.com/frontend/products/php/product.php?session_langid=2&idstring=0103

I am sure you can find more on www.downloads.com

I hope this helps :)

I forgot to mention if you do use the registry to get rid of it from the add remove programs listing as well as out of the registry ( You may be leaving parts of the program in the registry so I would suggest you run a registry cleaner if you do it that way !!
