I've run spybot search and destroy in the past and currently use microsoft anti spyware. I've checked all the services that are required for msinfo32.exe and they are all running. I am using norton antivirus 2005. I'm pretty sure it isn't a virus or worm shutting it down but perhaps someone knows of something out there that could be hiding. I know some of the worms will disable msinfo32.exe.
I have searched for solutions and can't seem to find anything that works. Based on what I've tried, I'm thinking it may be a registry issue.
My system appears to be running fine but I really would like to get at the system information. I was able to get at it before last December and one day it disappeared.
I'm new to posting so I will assign 250 points. Let me know if it should be worth more. (or less)
I've come across great information here. Thanks in advance

dkern18195,
This might happen if the index.dat (maintained by the msinfo32 / Helpctr) is deleted accidentally. Index.dat is supposed to be present in the following folder:
C:\WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\HELPCT
If it's missing, you may try copying the file from another XP system. Alternately, a complete rebuild of Help Center might fix the problem (ref: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/
Note: Rebuilding the help using the above link will :
1. Remove the OEM customizations from Help Center
2. Few have reported that the "Did you know" stopped working in Help Center
