Have you tried to open the port on the router so it would forward it to the right computer?

I am hacing troubles logging a remote win xp computer onto the domain. The remote router is a cisco 1841 with the vpn client built in. So i can get vnc etc to the client, but it wont log onto the domain, it appears to time out. the latency across the vpn is about 500ms.
this is the error msg
The following error occured attemping to join the domain
The specified network name is no longer available

I think this could be DNS related issue, have you checked your DNS on the client? Try running the nslookup command and see what sort of respones you get.
If you are running DHCP Server, you can include DNS, gate, etc information with the DCHCP as well.
