Question

SysFader.exe

Asked by: IClown

Hello Experts,

My system recently started having a program appear on and off in the task bar.  It only displays for a very brief moment.  I finally was able to catch it in task manager, and in the applications tab it is "SysFader" when I go to the process it is explorer.  I'm not sure what to do.  i've searched the system for SysFader but found nothing.  Please help!

Thanks,

IC

>>I used to have an NVidia

look in add remove programs for any leftovers?

check in device manager and remove.

I would still do a full scan at trendmicro, and microsft amkes a note of an error with outlook express and sysfader.

Do this. Go to Start > Run > type in  msconfig then click 'ok'. Now go to the 'startup' tab and look for SysFader.exe. If it is there, then uncheck the box next to it and close msconfig. You will be asked to restart your computer, click restart and when you get the alert that your system has been change, just close the alert after clicking 'don't show MW this warning'

Still no such luck.

in Add/remove in the control panel nothing of nVidia or SysFader

same in msconfig - startup

it doesn't seem to be doing any damage, it's just more annoying because it is distracting.

Also the virus/spyware scan at micro trend/adAware/spybot/norton/McAfee have shown nothing

Thank you all for trying so far!

Any more suggestions?

>>I used to have an NVidia

what might have changed to cause what you are seeing? did it happen when you swapped cards? have you added anything new in the way of hardware or software?

Are you sure you checked in msconfig for startup items, and nothing is in the stratup folder, then you can look at the run parts of the registry. run regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

backup this key and then remove items from it that may be launching the program.
