The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Sound Issues

Asked by ElijahBailey in Windows XP Operating System

New computer system, Asus P5WD2 Premium mobo with Pentium 4 800FSB 3.0Ghz CPU, 1GB of RAM, 200GB Seagate SATA drive, ATI X800GT 16X PCI-E 256Mb 256bit DDR3 VO DVI 475Mhz Core (Saphire) graphics card, Creative Audigy 4 PCI Sound Blaster

Some web pages and other programs that have active graphic content seem to interfere with the sound card. Distortion is the word that comes to mind first but it's not exactly distortion. It's like the sound card is switched on and off really fast during graphic activity, although games work well as does Windows Media Player and other sound-oriented programs that have graphic content.

If I play something on Windows Media Player and open up yahoo.com (for one) then I get the interference.

I downloaded and installed the latest drivers for the sound card and the graphics card to no avail.

Running any audio-based program while music is running and opening any other causes distortion even if the second program is not actually playing music. My own computer can run two or more programs simulataneously with clear sound from each although mixed. This new system distorts if you simply open another program. Silly to suggest not running two at once but you just might like the background music from WMP while checking your email right? Would really like to find the cause of the problem.
