The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Windows' update (KB914454)

Hello,
My Windows' automatic updates downloaded the "Outlook 2003 Junk E-Mail Filter update: April 2006 (KB914454)"

Here's the description of the update:
"This update provides the Junk E-mail Filter in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 with a more current definition of which e-mail messages should be considered junk e-mail. This update was released in April 2006.

Whenever I try install the update, the installer initializes, and then tries to install this update and says:
"Updates were unable to be successfully installed

The following updates were not installed:
Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB914454)"

It's hard for me to troubleshoot this problem since the Windows' updater doesn't give me a failure reason. I've tried uninstalling & re-installed Outlook 2003 and everything, but it still won't install this update. So, I'm stuck with the Windows' update icon in my system tray reminding me to install the update... and when I shutdown/reboot it wants me to select "Install Updates and Shutdown".

Someone please help me get rid of this update or install it. I don't use Outlook, so I'd be fine with uninstalling it and removing the update (somehow) from my computer. Thanks!
