Hello,
I have been experiencing the "Blue Screen of Death" for awhile with certain programs. I have learned to avoid certain actions in programs to avoid a computer crash.
One of the major programs that I have a major issue with is Microsoft ActiveSync 4.1. In ActiveSync, the computer only crashes when I try to access the 'Connection Settings...' of the program. I have searched the internet for others with the same problem and the only couple ideas are to reinstall the program and delete unneeded ports with the Device Manager do to the fact that "ActiveSync is attempting to identify what ports are installed on your desktop and it thinks that there is a IR port". I have attempted both of these methods and I haven't had any luck in stopping this issue. Reinstalling the program just causes more of a hassle and I can't seem to identify the IR hardware that is supposed to be installed although my computer does not have an IR port.
Another program that causes this "blue screen of death" are WebJal and MyJal which are programs that connect to your mobile phone through a data cable in order for you to move java applications to your device. These programs will not even open without showing the " STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRI
VER" error message. When the computer restarts and I open an internet browser, it immediately directs me to this page:
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=158f4741-b919-4bb9-9202-e7924124cace&SID=11. Which basically says that my video device driver is outdated and I might need to decrease the hardware acceleration for my video adapter.
I tried this silution also with immenent failure. After I updated the driver, brought the hardware acceleration down to none, and disabled write combining I still recieved the same message.
I blame these consistent crashes on port errors of some sort but I am not very sure what exactly. I say port errors because it seems that all these programs share the same objective of obtaining connectivity to outside devices through my computers ports. These are the only reasons I have observed lately that cause my computer to crash and I am lost at what I am to do next because these programs are really necessary to what I need to do.
Please provide your expertise in this issue and it will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I have tried disabling the firewall and antivirus software [no luck :( ]
