I am willing to think outside the box on this one.
All of the windows machines in our network are tied to a Windows Active Directory, and are on the same subnet.
However, we have no effecient way of warning users of a server outtage, aside from email or word of mouth.
I want to be able to issue a command, or possibly run a script of whatever language that will create a popup on all the winows machines
containing a message that can be Ok'd.
Here is the problem, I know I can tie a vbs script into the startup.bat file, but that doesnt let anyone know unless thay are logging in right then.
I need a real time alert, something I can submit at any given time and have it alert all the windows machines.
Now, we can generate a static list of pc names if that would be helpfull, like a hardcoded list of computer names.
Does anyone knwo of a way to do this?>
PS: NetSend doesnt seem to work.
