problem in booting my PC

Hi,
I have cleared all of permissions for Everyone (built-in account) for primary drive C: (where WIN XP SP2 installed).
however, when I am booting my PC, the error message is shown : program to make auto check can not be found ..
so, how could I fix this problem without formating C: and reinstall windows ?
