Pro gave you nothing that Home did not have as far as a properly working system . . Assuming it was a legitimate installation of XP Pro, First thing I would do is install SP2 . . Windows Update no longer supports SP1.
You can download the full SP2 update here; http://www.microsoft.com/d
OOsorio,
I have seen a similar issue that was linked to Norton's uninstall deleting a registry entry that is needed by BITS. Look in the registry key below ...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\
\BackupRestore
Do you have a key (i.e. folder) named FilesNotToBackup? If not try creating it and then see if that fixes the problem.
Remember to always have a backup before editing the registry. The change you are making should not cause a problem but accidents can happen. Let me know if you have any questions or need more information.

Good morning all. Here are the results.
I turned on the laptop and looked at the services. The Automatic Updates was disabled. For some reason it disables itself. I made it automatic and started the service (This service will come up disabled if I restart the laptop ). I then started the BITS service which is set to manual.

The folder you mention is already there. You may be on to something though, a NAV had been uninstalled and maybe improperly. Live Update icon is still in the Control Panel but does not seem to work.
That's understandable and in the long run may have been the quicker option. :) Let me know if you have a question about closing this. There is information on the different options to close a question at http://www.experts-exchang

I would suggest manually doing these 2, then seeing if the rest follow successfully...
