Browse All TopicsWe have a user who wants to fax from their Win XP PC, but I am not having any success with the Windows Fax software. It always fails to send the fax, giving either a "No Answer" or "Line busy" response, even though we can confirm the receiving fax machine is ready and idle. I have tried a number of different ways of doing this, no luck. The modem is a SoftV90 Voice/peakerphone internal modem card made by Conexant.
Any advice would be appreciated.

HOW TO: Troubleshoot Common Fax Problems in Microsoft Windows XP

It might be best to go through the steps in order, but in particular I think step 3 is very important, in order to make sure that the modem itself is functioning properly. Also, take the cable running from the wall outlet to the modem, and plug it into a conventional phone, just to make sure that the line is operational. Make sure it's an analog phone line and not a PBX phone line.
