WinXP SP2 zip folder display

Windows XP SP2
I am zipping files using the "send to compressed" on RClick menu.
I DO want the display in the folder pane in Windows Explorer to show me the zip folder just l;ike a regular folder (plus sign on it's parent folder and the zip folder's files displayed in the right hand pane). The odd thing is that if I add a new folder (not zipped) it display correctly but only for that windows explorer session, if I close windows explorer and open it again the zip folder is only displayed as a file on the right and not as a folder on the left with the + to expand. Does anyone have insight ho I can make this always look and act like a real folder?

TIA,
