The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Other types of XP Pro Installation Discs that aren't OEM, Retail, Or Volume License? Help!!!!???

Asked by mstep3 in Windows XP Operating System

Hello

I was wondering if anybody knows if there are other types of Windows XP Pro installation discs out there that Microsoft sells or provides that are not Retail, OEM, or Volume License discs.  I have a customer that has brought a computer into my shop that has installed XP Professional on her computer and the disc was provided to her through her workplace.

She works at a local university and the university provides their teachers with an XP Professional license and a cd that can be checked out and be used to install on their home computer.  I assumed that this would be and sounded like it was a Microsoft volume license installation cd but I'm having trouble doing a repair on the installation because the product id/key doesn't seem to work with any of the discs I have.  I have several XP install discs that will let you do repairs on OEM installs, Retail installs, and Volume license installs.  The key that she provides does not seem to work with the volume licensing discs or OEM install discs that I have.  She also does not have access to the original disc that was used from the college so I cannot look at the disc to see what type of installation disc it is.  Has anyone run into this type of problem or know if there are other various types of XP installs discs out there that might have special licensing for educational facilities like universities.

Thanks,
Mike
