Outlook 2003 - how do you change the columns displayed for all subfolders?
Outlook 2003 - how do you change the displayed columns for all subfolders?

I want to add a field / column to every subfolder in my Inbox but I do not see an option to apply my Field Additions to all child folders. Is there a way to change the display of all subfolders? Or do you hve to do them one at a time?

Hi AnimatorOne

You can use the Define Views more information here http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA101209011033.aspx

Once applied at a top level it will filter down to subfolders.

The link points to an Outlook 2007 page; the menu system in Outlook 2003 is different.

View, Current View, Customize Current View add fields and order the fields.   Unfortunately this must be done for each different folder.

Hi AnimatorOne

The settings are the same
Click View
Select Arrange By
Select Current View
Click Cusomise Current View...
Make your changes etc..
Click OK

Click View
Select Arrange By
Select Current View
Click Define Views...
Click Copy...
Name the View (Optional)
Select All Mail and Post folders
Click OK
Click Apply View
Click Close

All your Mail and Post folders should have that view applied.

matrxnz, that looked like it was going to work, especially with the "All your Mail and Post" verbiage.
But the view did not apply to the subfolders.

Hi AnimatorOne

Sorry my bad, I was apply mine to another PST file which worked fine, to change the current PST I did the following

Click View
Select Arrange By
Select Current View
Click Define Views...
Clicked Messages
Clicked Modify...
Made changes etc..
Click OK x 2
Click Apply View
Click Close
Close Outlook 2003

Open Outlook 2003
Click View
Select Arrange By
Select Current View
Click Define Views...
Clicked Messages
Click Apply View
Click Close

Than all my Mail and Post folders had the same view, including Inbox and Subfolders of Inbox.

Cheers

I tried it again, with the enw instructions. I followed the instruction exactly (a couple times) but it did not change the view of my subfolders, only the folder I was in.

Microsoft Windows XP is the sixth release of the NT series of operating systems, and was the first to be marketed in a variety of editions: XP Home and XP Professional, designed for business and power users. The advanced features in XP Professional are generally disabled in Home Edition, but are there and can be activated. There were two 64-bit editions, an embedded edition and a tablet edition.
