Asked by: tomsee

Hello Everyone: I have a small picture as a background on my Monitor. In Display Properties, desktop, I chose to "Center" the picture. Now I dont want to stretch it or tile it or make it larger. Is there anyway I can just move it upward more to the top of monitor?  I am using xp home edition SP2  Thanks

Nope.  Center, Tile, or Stretch.  Those are your three options.

You may be able to edit the picture, add some blank space (same color as the background around the picture) to the bottom of the picture.  Then even though XP thinks the picture is centered, the visible area is raised a bit.  I haven't done this, just a thought.

i agree, use a tool like IrfanView to edit your image according to the size and positioning of your screen

I rarely argue with a poster's accepted solution, but in this case I must state that these points should have been split, at the very least.

And I won't post a request to change this one, just wanted to express my disagreement.

Then proceeded to give some conjector that, even he does not know if it will work.
Where as  SheharyaarSaahil  gave me a POSITIVE response,  I stand for giving all points to him.
But if mod's want to change this, then in the future,  maybe the points should be left up to them in the first place!

tomsee....i respect your thoughts.....but the idea of editing the image was first suggested by michko and i just elaborate it furhter.

i think a split is a fair decision here, IMHO :)

Sorry no attitude intended, just gave my thoughts on it. Do split them, Thank You

All - was out of touch for a few days - thanks to all for your understanding on this.

Tomsee - Having re-read my original post, I see where it could have been interpreted as negative.  I'm sorry, I didn't mean it to come across that way.  I was just being blunt and straightforward with the answer - I've found that can avoid confusion sometimes.  It certainly wasn't intended to have any negative overtones, it was supposed to be just matter-of-fact.  The additional suggestion was just a thought off the top of my head to suggest a way that may work - I hadn't tried it, but it seemed reasonable to me.  I'm glad SheharyaarSaahil added the Irfanview suggestion, and glad you have a working solution.

I understand completely, I realize now that sometimes when you are truly trying to help someone (which you surely were), there is always some things to try out before a solution is found and I really appreciiate your replies. Thank You Very Much, Tomsee
