How to change nameserver now that I've moved back to U.S.

Asked by GMRandall in Windows XP Operating System, Domain Name Service (DNS), Internet Protocols

I recently moved back to the U.S. from China.

I've been monitoring my IP packets and noticed many packets still being sent to a Chinese nameserver.

I opened up my Registry Editor and sure enough under HKLM/SYSTEM/Tcpip/Interfaces my nameserver is showing a Chinese IP.

QUESTION:

How do I make sure my computer is properly configured to automatically use the appropriate nameserver (and not query/send packets to the nameserver I used back in China)?

NOTE:  I have opened up the Network Connections and changed all my Network Connections so that the Properties of the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) are:
 - Obtain a TCP/IP address automatically and
 - Obtain DNS server address automatically.
(Before some of them pointed to the Chinese nameserver.)

However, I still see packets being sent to the Chinese Nameserver and my registry entry for Nameserver hasn't changed.

Thanks.
