remove winter.exe virus with Combofix

Computer is infected with winter.exe and skuns.dat. bleepingcomputers.com has a tutorial on how to run Combofix to solve the problem but the first few pages gloss over part of how to make the recovery console work in conjuntion with Combofix. Ineed the instructions simplfied with more detail.
I have run HJT and got rid of most of the problems, but skuns.dat remains. HJT displays the line;
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\WINDOWS\system32\skuns.dat
checking that line and "fix cheked"
results in:
An unexpected error has occurred at procedure: modBackup_MakeBackup(sItem=O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\WINDOWS\system32\skuns.dat)
Error #5 - Invalid procedure call or argument

Try to open "Task Manager" and the computer goes nuts.
I have scanned the drive with NOD32, and PC Tools Threatfire, and "AVG rootkit". they all fixed something, but the computer is still infected. thanx computerchuck
