Swop Hard disks

I am a system administrator in a school, using xp pro with server 2003. I want to be able to move a disk that has XP on it - along with all the software to a new computer. XP will not let me do this - it goes into a loop. Is there a way around this? I have a site licence - I am not doing anything illegal - but if I want to replace a machien I have to reinstall the os as well as all applications.I just want to take the hard disk from one box and put it into another, as I used to do with Windows 98Start Free Trial
