How do I activate a data projector?

I have hooked up a Data Projector and cannot seem to get laptop to recognize it.  I have tried all of the FN + Fkeys.  This laptop has a s-video and rgb outputs.  What do I need to do the use the data projector?

Have you tried using the CRT/LCD key?  On my Dell it would be (FUNCTION)(F8)?

This should cycle through the output modes, usually... LAPTOP / OUTPUT PORT / BOTH

Alternatively, there's often a way of telling the graphics driver directly which outputs it should be using--unfortunately, this is usually specific to whatever graphics driver you have installed. Try clicking the Advanced button in the Display Properties Settings tab and see if anything in there looks likely.

Thanks for the information pjknibbs.  I  went to Display Properties Settings, advanced, then Utility Manager.  Under the Utility Manager there was a driver mode settings tab where I had to click on the power on secondary device.
