Can I replace 1 small hard drive with one large easily

I currently have 2 small hard drives in my computer.  The C and D drives are on one physical drive.  I'd like to replace that drive with a much larger drive but without having to reinstall everything on those two drives.  I currently have little to zero room left on the C drive because of bad partitioning decisions and it's causing all kinds of problems when I try to install anything new because something always wants to go to C.  Is it possible to do this?  The larger drive is still in the box but I do have an external drive that I could copy to.  The OS is Windows XP pro with Sp2.Start Free Trial
