xp icons re-sorting for no apparent reason

Every so often - once or twice a month - upon starting my workstation in the morning the screen icons will be re-sorted alpha - no problems with previous shut dpwn - normal.  I have a lot of icons (approx 200) arranged in groups so would like not to have to re-arrange each time this happens.  Only setting in 'arrange icons by:" is align to grid and show desktop icons.
