i have been trying to get a lab full of imacs dual booting windows xp via boot camp. i am using Bombich's Bootpicker to select os's. i need to have the windows os reboot on logoff to return to the bootpicker. i have tried to set a logoff script (.cmd) shutdown -r -f -t 0 if i run the file from within windows it works like a charm. the problem is getting it to run on logoff. so i need a script or an executable that will cause windows to reboot
any help is always appreciated.

Each user profile on a system has a registry entry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER (HKCU) in the key I provided above; this setting can be changed manually in the registry or by running GPEDIT. I recommend using GPEDIT instead of the registry. One reason is because in GPEDIT you can totally disable the LOGOFF command and not just the LOGOFF command from the start menu; I often forget there are many ways to do tasks in Windows.
START | RUN | GPEDIT.MSC
navigate to: Local Computer Policy | User Configuration | Administrative Templates | System | Ctrl+Alt+Del Options | Remove LogOff
Enable this to prevent users from logging off the machine.
If you just want to remove the Logoff from the start menu (AKA set ForceStartmenuLogOff=0) then:
START | RUN | GPEDIT.MSC
navigate to: Local Computer Policy | User Configuration | Administrative Templates | Start Menu and Taskbar | Remove Logoff on the Start Menu
Enable this item to remove it from the startment
Now all you need to do is create a new batch file or vbscript; call it whatever you want (i.e. logoff) and within it you have your "Modified shutdown command"

ok this soulds like that would work. but is there any to actually change behavior of the system so that when a user loggs off normally the system takes the same actions as if the user selected to restart the computer? i want to make this as seemlessly as possible. this computer will be used in a school and as i am sure the students will have no problems, but this computer will be piolited to faculty only for the rest of the year, and it is the faculty i am worried about. have you ever tried to teach a teacher? its almost immpossible. half of my teachers are technotards and the other half know just enough to be dangerous.
if there is no other way i will just put the shortcut on the disktop, but i would like to find a nother way.

I don't think you are going to accomplish your goals working from the path you are choosing. Logging off calls a different program than the one that would restart your machine. The logoff executable kills off all sessions in the current environment and doesn't allow other sessions to start up while it is processing the logoff command.
You would probably be better off disabling the log off option on the start menu (HKCU\Software\Microsoft\W
