Thank you! I just didn't hold it down long enough.

Browse All TopicsI just got a new Dell Vostro running XP. I installed VS2008, .Net 3.5 and MSDN. Then it said I should search for and install any OS updates from MS. I downloaded and installed an update to the update engine and told it to search for required updates. It said I needed to install SP3 for XP. I told it to do the install.
It popped a dialog that looks mosly rendered to confirm the installation of the SP. The box is locked up tight. No response to mouse, keyboard or power switch. Is there any way to fore a reboot short of pulling the battery?
Thanks for your help!
Jim

if it doesn't respond to any input devices _and_ you've waited enough and still nothing happens, then I'm afraid that you must do a reset...you don't have to remove the battery though, just hold the power button for 5 sec
