Error 1058: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.
I have enabeled the services that microsoft suggests but when I set the setting to Automatic and try to sart the automatic update service I get the following error: Error 1058: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.
There are some further ideas to follow here>

Basically all the above solutions tell me to do what I have already done. When I go to services.msc and I click on "automatic updates" and "enable" them and click "start" that is when I get the error. Attached is my Hijack This log.

well I just saw your running adaware and spybot also turn all that junk off when you run these 2 programs.
I had the same problem with my pc. superantipyware was able to detect and remove 3 spy ware progs. I just had to re enable automatic updates service. Thanks a lot
