0xc0000005, 0x804ef15a, 0xba50b734, 0x00000000
It's happened several times on first startup, shutting down the computer and re-starting has been working until today, when I got the same message on three successive startups.
I've also gotten a few "system has recovered from a serious error" messages.
I'm on a Dell desktop XPS400 running Windows XP Media Center Edition, SP2. No new hardware installed recently, no new software except for AVG 8.0. But I believe the error messages started before AVG was downloaded.
How do I attach the minidump file? .dmp doesn't appear to be allowed.

I dont know who your internet provider is but do you use there antivirus most of the time you cannot run theres with any other antivirus its a user agreement violation it will cause your computer to crash. If this is the case start in safe mode and uninstall your avg and any other anti virus, then restart computer. If you want avg first uninstall antivirus thats from ip or that came with your computer then reinstall avg.
You can disable the restarting of computer on errors
Click 'Start'
Click on 'Run'
Type in "sysdm.cpl" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Click on the 'Advanced' tab
Click on the 'Startup and Recovery' Settings button
Uncheck 'Automatically restart', then click on OK
Click on OK to exit the System applet, then close the Control Panel.
Reboot for the changes to take effect
Norton Ghost is holding my computer hostage!
I ran the Norton Live Update on Ghost, it failed to update. This morning again, I got the BSOD twice in a row. Finally got the computer to boot up. When it booted, I kept getting a "Windows Installer" message, and the Ghost icon in the taskbar had an error symbol on it - Clicking on it produced the message - Unable to start the Integrator, Please reboot and try again . Clicking the tech support link in the Error message sent me to this page: http://service1.symantec.c
....where you can download the Norton Removal tool. However, this is Step 2 for solving the problem:
Save your Product Key
If the product is currently not installed on your computer, check the Product Key at the back of the CD sleeve, or in the confirmation email that you received from Symantec for your download purchase. Once you write down the Product Key, go to STEP 3.
Your product may have a product key. If your product does have a product key, make sure you have it now. If your product came on a CD, your product key is on the back of your CD envelope. If you downloaded your product, then your product key is in your confirmation email.
Be sure that you have your product CD or installation file, then go to STEP 3 below.
If you do not have your product CD or installation file, and you have Windows XP, then we suggest that you upgrade to the latest version of your product."
Well, I don't HAVE a product key, because this program came pre-installed on the Dell Computer. There is the Norton Ghost CD, but it's not in a sleeve with a product key on it. I don't want to upgrade, I just want to get rid of it, but it appears as if there's some sort of extortion going on here!
Attempting to Uninstall from the control panel results in an error - Attempting to re-install from the CD results in an error. I don't know how to resolve this without upgrading to a newer version of a product I don't really want on my computer!
Download and run the Norton Removal Tool, which cleans up and removes leftover Norton install problems.

I believe that the Ghost software that Dell puts on their pc's is a specialized version of Ghost backup. I remember working on one pc that had that when delivered from Dell, but the software expired within a month or two--that is you had basically a trial-ware version. I uninstalled it for the other person using normal add/remove. But it sounds like you are past that point because of the errors and problems.
I thought you just wanted to get rid of the software; if so, the nrt should take care of it. Sometimes you have to run it in safe mode a second time.
Yes, I do just want to get rid of it. I'll try the removal tool. The way the download page is worded, it made it sound as if you needed the product key just to run the removal tool.
This wasn't a trial version - it's been going now for a little less than two years. But maybe it only came with XX-number of months of updates. In that case, I choose just to dump it. I've never had any real use for it, and it's just causing problems.
Thanks
