Every thime my wife brings home her laptop from work -- she has to start her computer twice

Hi
I have a router with dhcp -- it works fine with all my pcs
but when my wife brings her laptop xp -dell --home it will not pick up a address unless she starts the computer twice then it picks up a address-- why is that
