Local Policy Does Not Permit You to Logon Interactively

Asked by willcomp in Windows XP Operating System

Tags: XP Home, Interactive Logon

The PC in question is running XP Home and has never been networked. It is a stand alone home PC that is several years old.

According to the owner, PC started requiring a password out of the blue. None had ever been set or used previously. Administrator account in Safe Mode was also requiring a password and none had ever been set (I built the PC and did not set an admin password).

I used Locksmith to set user and administrator passwords. After that, error message "The local policy of this system does not permit you to log on interactively" was received for both accounts. I also created a new user account using UBCD4Win with the same results.

I have both ERD Commander and UBCD4Win available for use if anyone knows any registry edits or other hacks which will resolve this issue.

Please note I cannot logon in either Normal or Safe modes and this is XP Home, not Pro.Start Free Trial
