changing over 1000 shortcut hyperlinks located on a resource drive after changing drive later.

I have an image I created which contains two partitions.  C: Partition is the OS and the D: is a resource library.  The resource library (D:) has a folder with an extensive library of manual in one folder called References and Publications.  The References and Publications folder contains the actual manuals.  On the D: drive, for the purpose of cross referencing, we created folders by position, section, job title etc.  These folders contain shortcuts back to the References and Publications folder which contain the actual documents.  Do to the popularity of our image, I was recently asked by one user if i could load our image on his machine.  He wanted to maintain his organizations image on the C: Drive and wanted to have the machine duel boot.  After configuring his computer, our D: drive is now the E: Drive on his machine.  All the links in our resource library are still pointing to the D: thus they are all now broke.  I want to know if anyone knows how to create a batch file which could automate this process so that I don't have to do this individually on over 1000 links.  Pls help.
