I am looking for a registry fix to change the DEFAULT display of Windows XP File-Open dialog box. When you open a file with a program, XP pops up a file-open dialog box always in LIST view, with icons on the left rather than a tree.
I want to change this to a DETAILS view, with a tree on the left -- this should be changeable in the registry.
If you do NOT know a fix for this, or if your response is like the accepted answer in this similar question --

I already "know" it "can't be done", supposedly. There are replacements too, like Wordperfect's, but I am not looking for that either.
Many XP defaults can be changed in the registry, so I am specifically looking for a REGISTRY PATCH.
