After the windows task scoll bar, there will be a black screen, then it will stop there, the light for hardisk is blinking all the time.
I tried 'safe mode', 'last known good', 'debug', all cannot run up. Also tried to unplug and plug memory, hardisk and cards.
I tried to put in Win CD and pressing R for recover option. At the bottom will display 'checking 39206MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi...', the light for hardisk also keep blinking.
Then I tried to use ERD Commander 2008 to help restart the xp. After started, it said 'The file directory d:\$Mft is corrupt and unreadable, Please run the chkdsk utility'
And it also said 'You need to specify the directory that contain the microsoft debugging tools for windows.'

First you should backup the critical data on this machine.
Then run a complete chkdsk....this looks like a hard drive error
