Maybe try running:
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Browse All TopicsI have folders that have extensions, i.e. their names have dots:
folder.1
something.boo
For some reason, all folder extensions are now hidden. I can still see all file extensions, but not folder extensions. I tried checking and unchecking "hide extensions for known file types" but this only affects files, not folders.
How do I turn folders extensions visible again?

most folders don't have extension, only files do. can you clarify what was the folder named before you lost them?
I'm assuming it's a zip folder or rar folder. they should be like folder.zip for example.
Another possiblity, there are some folders being used by programs. uninstalling the program can result the folder with .xxx lose their name.
The only solution to this, is to rename the folder with .xxx as desired. "hide extensions for known file types" only work for files
