I changed my boot.ini and now I can't start windows XP

Hi all,

My first post. Following someone's advice (obviously not an expert one :)) i changed my boot.ini file adding a "/noguiboot" at the end of the text (see code).
I also installed some software (Mozilla hunderbird, windows Live Mail) and then restarted my computer.
Windows launch failed, and all the restart options (without failure and so on) failed as well.
I have a glimpse of a blue screen on each restart (those blue screens that appears on some "fatal errors") but i can't read it (gone too fast).
I tired to change the file boot.ini by rebooting with a KNOPPIX CD but this is only for read : i can't modify the file with this system (or i don't know how).

Then I remembered and old hard drive I have that used windows 98.
I rebbot my PC with this disk. Windows 98 installed all it's stuff to reconigze my material and i (finally!) got a windows on my PC again.

But this version don't reconigze my ntfs hard disk so I can't modify this boot.init file yet...
I searched for an NTFS reader for windows 98 but found any (at least, not free).
My laptop has the windows XP licence, but It was sold without any install CD.
I tried to reboot with a windows 95 CD, but it's not recognized.

I gess the simpliest way should be havind a Windows XP install CD.
I'll create one asap, that means after I find a solution to my problem.
I can't keep using my lap with windows 98.
Please help me to recover my windows XP system.
