I have already tried the VMWare suggestions. No luck. And none of the VMWare gurus have any further suggestions.

Browse All TopicsI run XP inside VMWare Fusion on OS X 10.5.6. All was well. Suddenly I am having problems printing. The symptoms are NOT those of the recent Apple security patch that hosed Fusion's printing. I have an Epson CX7800 multifunction and a Canon MF4150 multifunction. Both were working just fine until a few days ago. Both continue to print from OS X apps.
I launch Fusion and then launch XP and printers are off line. I can enable Epson and it prints. I enable Canon and it won't print (error message failed to print). Reboot, and Epson won't print after enabling. Neither will Canon. Shut XP off and relaunch and Epson prints after enabling and Canon won't. Reboot. Unplug Epson USB, wait a minute and plug back in. XP finds it and it prints. Unplug Canon USB and let XP find it and it also prints. Reboot and both off line and enabling won't print.
I've tried uninstalling both drivers and affiliated SW. No effect.

I know that you have uninstalled and reinstalled, but did you do this? If you have Printers settings in Fusion enabled so that all printers get add automatically, disable it. Uninstall both printers. Then disconnect them from the Mac. Reboot XP. Plug one printer into the Mac, connect to XP, install whatever software/drivers are necessary and then reboot XP and add in the second printer in the same manner. Then go back and re-enable the PRinters settings for Fusion to pull all printers from the mac.

I used to have my HP printer connected directly to my Mac, but kept running into minor issues so moved it to a network setting... but that was under Fusion 1.x. I also run Fusion at home and I do have my printer hooked in via USB (Epson printer) and I usually don't have any issues with it.

I have something similar that happens with a HP inkjet network printer that I have where I have the printer software installed on the XP VM. It occasionally just drops off and I usually have to reboot the printer or I've even had to reinstall the software. Although your symptoms don't sound exactly like the OS X update issue, have you tried the fixes anyway?
