Hard drive in dell laptop with bad MOBO..need options..

I have a dell here with a bad MOBO it needs to be replaced. On the HDD there is some locksmith software the customer needs. She does not have the install CD's....

I need to know if the customer buys a new laptop, will I be able to put the HDD from the old dell into the new laptop and run a repair ? Will it work like that ? or if the customer needs that specific software is it best just to replace the MOBO and go from there....Any help is appreciated....Thanks...
