The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Word 2007 "Save As PDF" loses Times New Roman italic formatting - Excel 2007 and others OK. Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 OK.

Strange one...

If I use the "2007 Microsoft Office Add-in: Microsoft Save as PDF" to create a PDF from Word 2007, any Times New Roman italic or bold italic formatting is lost. The PDF will have regular or bold (non italic) formatting only. This only seems to occur in Word 2007 and not in (for example) Excel 2007. It does not occur with any other fonts I've tested (e.g. Arial, Courier New, etc. all work fine).

If I use the Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 Word plug in, the PDF comes out correctly with italics and bold italics..

I uninstalled all of the original Monotype Times New Roman TTF files (which were dated 1996, Version = "MS core font:V2.00 by the way ) and installed a new set of Version 2.90 fonts (times.ttf, timesbd.tf, timesi.ttf, and timesbi.ttf). This didn't seem to help.

XP 32 bit SP-3, Office Word 2007 (12.0.6331.5000) SP1 MSO

There is only one version of the plug in as far as I know. It's
