That is what I have done but somehow things got messed up with this laptop because it no longer scans. I think I will start over and see what happens unless someone else has a suggestion.

Browse All TopicsI have had trouble trying to get the scanner option to work on an XP Pro laptop. The problem seems to be that I am trying to use two different HP all-in-one models. They are in different locations and are connected with usb locally. Printing seems to work fine for both models but I can't get the scanning option to work on either properly.
The two models are the HP 5510 and the HP 6400. I have tried uninstalling all of the HP software and reinstalling. If I wipe the system and start from scratch, what is the best install method to get these two models working?

With HP USB printers you normally first install the driver software via CD or from the download, then during the process you are asked to connect the printer, then the driver installation goes on. When finished test the All-in-one. When one All-in-one is working OK repeat the same process with the 2nd. Printer.
