0x80070005 Access denied task scheduler in windows xp sp 2 and windows 2003 server
This started happening after we upgraded from Windows 2000 AD to Windows 2008 AD. I can schedule tasks just fine on the 2008 servers, but not on the XP SP2 PC or Windows 2003 servers. I have tried all the suggested fixes on the microsoft website with no luck.
This error code means that access to something is being denied. I have come across this error when trying to schedule backups. What tasks are you trying to run?
ASKER
I am trying to schedule shutdown/restarts, it worked fine before the upgrade. I have changed permissions on the scheduler and the shutdown executable, still no luck.
Also next time you need to add a question to another zone, use the request attention. Dont re-ask it.

Setting up the cmd.exe to run as a batch does not work, I also setup shutdown.exe to run as batch and still nothing. the Domain admins account has also been granted full control over both those and that did not help either.
Try using psshutdown instead
http://www.ss64.com/nt/pss hutdown.ht ml
create your scheduled task with this in the run
psshutdown @c:\Computers.txt -accepteula -r -f -c -t 120
computers.txt has the computers you want to shutdown/reboot listed 1 per line

try changing the "AT SERVICE ACCOUNT" by going to scheduled tasks>>>advanced tab
ASKER
Nope same erro
Are you using a blank password?
ASKER
No I am using the domain administrator's password
when setting the "AT service" account try hitting "ok" instead of apply

ASKER
There is no apply button only OK
check your permissions on the %systemroot%\tasks folder you might have modified this in prep. for conficker
meant hitting "ok" when creating task
ASKER
Check the permission on the task folder, I thought that might have been the issue also. I only get finish when creating the task.
ASKER
I did just try to modify an existing task and get the same error when just clicking OK.
try doing without the wizard, go to scheduled task folder and right click in blank and select new
ASKER
Nothing opens when I do that.
have you tried ?
1. Stop the Task Scheduler
2. Delete all files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\ S-1-5-18
3. Restart the service

you might even try systaskfix
you can download from here

SysTaskFix.exe -fix

SysTaskFix.exe -fix

did both doesn't look like anything changed. Doesn't appear as if the systaskfix even runs, I am not seeing anything on the screen after I click run.
On the Windows 2003 servers, do you get the same error when using the schtasks.exe command line tool with the /u and /p parameters?
