How To Add Trusted Site and Stop IE8 Pop-ups

Yesterday I installed IE 8 and now I get pop-ups every time I move to a new web page.  If I try to add the site to my trusted sites, I get "Access to this feature has been disabled by a restriction set by your system administrator".  I am administrator on my machine.  Also I can't get to Google Groups anymore.

Are you on Windows Vista?

If so, try right-clicking the IE8 shortcut (do this while IE8 is NOT running already) and selecting "Run As Administrator".

That should help to clear things up :)

elbrian87.  Thanks for the suggestion.

I am running WS2003.  I tried closing IE8 and then opening it at C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe  selecting the "run as " option.   Since I am a member of admininstrators on my machine, I unchecked the run with restricted access and left the check box for my login and started IE 8 but still same problem with not being able to stop the pop-ups or to add the site to trusted.  So I thought to uninstall IE8 and could not find anywhere in Control Panel Add Remove Programs where it was listed.  It was not in the components either.  Would you know how to uninstall IE8?

The solution was correct.  When IE 8 starts the first time the security configuration manager prompts to Close or Add.  I had left the checkbox for Conitinue to Prompt checked.  When I unchecked that box, the problem went away.
