Question

change the name that is displayed on the locked screen - Windows XP Home Edition

Asked by: darylr

How do I change my name on the locked screen from Owner to my full name? I've tried many different ways, including going through the system registry like i was once advised, but nothing worked.

Reply:
Just go to "control panel/user accounts" <click> on "Owner" and choose "Change my name".

Thanks to all who posted a response to this!  I found the answer myself after some more research.

Using Start >  Run > Control Userpasswords2 brings up the dialog where this can be changed.

Thanks again to all who posted!

I posted the correct solution to this problem.

Whether or not you go through control userpasswords 2  with the advanced user management section or go through the computer management function through local users and groups it does the same thing and bring up the same local users and groups.

Had the author tried my solution , this would have worked without him having to do any additional research.

With respect to fuzzer123456, that option didn't appear in Windows XP Home Edition when I tried it.
